The PWHL is BOOMING post-Olympics ๐๐๐
Off the back of the 2026 Olympics, PWHL attendance is skyrocketing, and weโre 100% here for it.
Letโs break it down:
โก๏ธ Last week, the PWHL surpassed 2 million fans in just 275 league games. The league hit 100 million just 120 games ago.
The total attendance from March 8-15 was 80,703 across the eight games, breaking the previous record of 79,356 in one week.
And, 51,080 fans attended four games over the weekend, beating the weekend record of 47,858.
All of this leads to league attendance being up 23% season-over-season.
What about the expansion teams?
The PWHLโs two expansion franchises, the Vancouver Goldeneyes and the Seattle Torrent have been leading the charge in attendance. The Goldeneyes have an average attendance of 11,370 fans and the Torrent average 12,533.
Most recently, the Seattle Torrent set the US Attendance Record for a womenโs hockey game with 17,335 fans packing Climate Pledge Arena.
But even without these attendance numbers, the original six teams are still bringing in the fans. The league would still be up 13.5%.
So, whatโs next?
In April, the PWHL will play sold-out games at Madison Square Garden and TD Garden. Both of the games can break the US attendance record just set in February.
Plus with playoffs, the possibility of four new expansion teams, and World Championships in November, the womenโs game is only growing ๐ |

An update on the US Womenโs Half-Marathon Mess
ICYMI: Back in February at the US Womenโs Half-Marathon Championship, the race that determines who will represent the US at the World Road Running Championships in September, the lead pack of runners was sent off course with a mile to go. This change in course made them miss the qualifying positions they needed to make the Worlds team.
So, how does that happen?
It was determined that the course did not meet USATF standards, and a number of the volunteers marking the route were diverted to support an officer down call elsewhere in the race. When an officer came by to direct traffic, the runners followed this direction, and ended up running off course.
Despite these mistakes, USATF originally said they wouldnโt change the results, leaving the three diverted runners, Jess McLain, Emma Grace Hurley, and Ednah Kurgat to finish ninth, 12th, and 13th.
But nowโฆ
World Athletics has made a one-time exception to allow USATF to send seven athletes to Worlds, rather than the usual four. However, only four athletes will be allowed to win medals, contribute to team results or receive prize money, and those names must be submitted before the championship begins. The other three will be allowed to race for world ranking only.
Who will the four athletes be? USATF must make the decision by the end of August.
