You've probably been hearing a lot about creatine, but maybe you just don't know where to start.
Creatine helps fuel both muscle and cellular energy by supporting production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate) β your bodyβs primary energy source. Since ATP is rapidly depleted during high-intensity workouts, a regular creatine routine helps regenerate those reserves. Itβs also been shown to aid mental clarity and fatigue.
So whether youβre churning out a tough workout or just dealing with a tough day, Momentous Creatine helps ensure youβre giving all the energy you have. And Momentous Creatine is available as both a drink mix and in new convenient Creatine Chews.

The first woman to train a Kentucky Derby winner π
Even if you don't care about horse racing (or you think it's incredibly problematic), watch this video of trainer Cherie DeVaux cheering her horse on as he went from last to first and try not to cry π
The overhead view shows more clearly how Golden Tempo came from the very back of the field to win.
And with that DeVaux became the first woman trainer to win the Kentucky Derby. After leaving college and pre-med, she started out working at a stable walking horses, trying to find a new direction for her life, and then opened her own stable eight years ago. Now she's making history.
What's a trainer? A horse has an owner, who finances the operation; a trainer, who runs the day-to-day care and training; and a jockey, who does the riding and works closely with the trainer.
But why aren't there more women jockeys?
Sexism!
Oh wait, you thought the answer was more complicated than that? Despite a 14-year study analyzing performances, which found female jockeys were as good as male jockeys, women still made up just 12% of the riders. There continue to be perceptions of weakness, and access to horses and development for up-and-coming women remains limited.
There have been just six women jockeys who have ridden in the Kentucky Derby π
π READ: One of the first women to become a licensed jockey in the U.S. was Penny Ann Early, who was featured in LIFE Magazine in a 1968 story about her fight β with an editorial from a male Hall of Fame rider who argued that, although she had the right to ride, women weren't suited for the track:
βTheyβll find out how tough it is and theyβll give it up. The tracks wonβt have to worry about being flooded with women because a female cannot compete against a male doing anything...They might weigh the same as male jockeys, but they arenβt as strong. And as a group, I donβt think their brains are as capable of making fast decisions. Women are also more likely to panic. Itβs their nature.β
Hmmm, sound familiar? |

Why a pro runner is suing Puma over their shoes π
Abby Steiner, a two-time world champion sprinter, is suing Puma and arguing their shoes contributed to a string of injuries that effectively ended her career.
She argues that, after signing a $2 million deal with Puma, she then experienced a series of foot injuries over the next three years because the carbon fiber plate and nitrofoam technology βchanged the foot and ankle mechanics during running that may contribute to or increase the risk of injury.β And that Puma knew of "defects" in the shoes.
Does her lawsuit have merit? π€·ββοΈ
Puma has denied their shoes cause injuries.
However, Steiner is not the first runner to sue a shoe company over their supershoes. In the fall, a former UC Berkeley runner sued Nike, arguing that the Alphafly 2 caused a fracture in her left foot.
Research has shown repeatedly that "technologically advanced running shoes" (commonly called "supershoes") do change how runners strike the ground and the amount of reaction forces. Supershoes definitely change a person's running mechanics β but do they cause injury or do they help prevent overuse injuries? That's where the research is a bit more split!
Tip of the week
If you bike, then you've probably dealt with saddle pain and saddle sores. But you don't have to! You don't have to suffer in silence!
Because bike seats and bike gear are often designed for men, and most bike fitters are male, women have long struggled with saddle pain and saddle sores β which, if left unaddressed, can turn into chronic labia swelling.
What can you do?
-
Start with a bike fit and find a fitter who understands female anatomy
-
Get the right saddle width and try different saddles
-
Invest in good bike shorts
